Went to my first Rugby 7's games during the Commonwealth Games - with Ruth, Michelle (Ruth's housemate), and Luke @ Telstra Dome. Rugby 7's is a fast game, each goes for 15 minutes (7 minute halves). It's very popular among the Pacific Island nations. The whole tournament is done in 2 days!
After the round robin games between the 16 teams, the 8 losing teams play their competition (Bowl Competition), then the 4 teams who lose in the quarterfinals play in another competition (Cup Competiton), and THEN the 4 winning teams play off for medals. Australia played twice this night (semifinal and bronze medal games) and lost both. New Zealand ended up beating England for gold.
Apart from a little girl a few seats from us screeching "GO NEW ZEEEEEEEALAND!!!!" about every 20 seconds, 'twas a good night.
